Consider Me Not Dying Young
I can't be waiting for an angel
for I can't be sure of my intent
There may be the appeal of angel
but maybe that is not for whom I am meant
The qualities of the common angel
suggest thoughts of a noble kind
Finding the best in others
bringing forth the purities of mind
But also to many smells of perfection
A cause holy and right
No blemish, dent, or lewdness
actually a quite controlled sight
Perhaps a better fit for me is imperfection
soiled if only just a bit
For a I know the darker sides of my nature
being realistic with where I sit
And yes some darker instincts mark me
not violent or causing harm to others around
But not content to follow others codes
broad colors I want to paint the town
And totally be consumed in passion's grips
with a woman who has my eye
Smoldering sex on our brains
wrinkled sheets where we might lie
Not caring if voyeurs are in our presence
no for them my desires are aimed
If they lives are that empty
Is our pairing really to be blamed
No I won't go home on schedule
and the old and dried up paint
As Billy said, "I rather laugh with the sinners
then cry with the saints"
Or to put another way to make my meaning clear
let an Englishman known as Sting have your ear
"To search for perfection is all very well
but to look for Heaven is to live here in Hell"
