By the Light of a Shooting Star
Footsteps tread gently across the floor
not fully aware of where they fall
mind fully in other places
yet another glance at the clock
heart skips a beat... it's almost 11
lying with my head outside my living room door
for service....
for clarity...
dial in the number
Hit the little green button
And let myself go...
Raising my head to the sky my eyes catch sight of a shooting star
and almost in reassurance another flies by right beside were the first disappeared
not much to anyone elses standards...but it takes hold of me
only the second time I've ever witnessed the beauty...my eyes could never find the right time to look up
A gentle voice issues forth from the piece of plastic lying forgotten in my hand...
"hello my sweet"
my mind catches the next flight back to earth. Remembering what I was about I say my own greeting
...not long after this my ear catches hold of a shooting star...and almost as if in reassurance, she whispers "i feel the same way..."
Not much to anyone elses standards, but it takes hold of me. The first time I've ever heard something so beautiful, my ears could never find the right time to listen...to believe
My mind slowly raps itself around this voice over a phone, ripping its chest open and letting fly the gold that has stored itself within...all I can do is smile
My thumb caressing the little hole from where this voice originates...
Almost as if I could take hold of this shooting star...help it find its rightful place in the heavens.
And a memory eases itself into my minds eye...
A picture born of love and understanding
Blue eyes everywhere
And I can breathe easy for she has already found her place
And she is happy
A gentile smile caresses my face...her soothing words still filing my mind with honey and I know...
She needs nothing from me
She asks nothing of me
And my heart is filled with a shooting star
For even tho she holds Everything in the palm of her hands...her eyes gave their time to look at me...her ears gave their time to hear my words...her heart Gave its time to trust my love...
And for once in my life its not me spilling myself for everyone else to see...
but with
Mouth shut
Eyes
Closed
And ears
Open
I was allowed into the heart of a shooting star
not fully aware of where they fall
mind fully in other places
yet another glance at the clock
heart skips a beat... it's almost 11
