Making Promises

you promise you'll never leave
you promise you'll always be there for me
to help me up when I fall
to cheer me on when I long to give up
your one of the few people I have ever trusted
so I believe you when you say you love me
and when you promise you'll always care
I'm scared stiff of being hurt again
when I've only just been healed
you want to help me free my life of sin
my heart breaks at the thought that you too might leave
so please tell me why are you making these promises to me?
