Sisyphean Art

Only so much retouch with a fine brush
Not too much forgiveness in sculpting
But writers can write and rewrite forever
Like the tragic Greek king and his pet rock
Starting each draft we so hope that it stays
But our inner editor again jars the boulder
While it may not be the exact same stone
The trip down and up sure feels familiar
