Staying Home - New Year's Eve

Thank you Crim, even after 30 years, I can still feel this like it was last night. If not for a chance call from my Sister-in..law, I might not be here now... jj

To me, "staying home" is the worst thing you can do.  Is that going to take away what you feel?  In your reaction to the first reply, please excuse my boldness, you suggest even suicide.  That's ok.  Been there.  Done that.  Then I discovered if I was aware of my feelings, emotions, thoughts (no one can tell you how:  that would be conditioning) that all of them change constantly.  Come and go, go and come.  Nothing now can hurt me, because I know I'm an ass.  Don't cling.  That's all.  That's enough.  You are a gifted and talented poet.  Don't cling to that either.  hat's all.  That's enough.

Gee thanks, and thank God you didn't tell me that 30 years ago or I surely would have killed myself. Depression doesn't afford one with rational thought and while what you say is true and resonable to someone in their right mind, I was not. It took me a dozen years to break free of the state of mind I fell into after this relationship ended and brought me to the edge of suicide on a few occasions. Being alone is never good when you want to die. A lot of college students kill themselves, I bet a lot of them were a lot like me, alone while surrounded by people who said "get over it"  which is the last thing someone on a ledge need to hear. The other side of the ledge is a step best not taken. Perhaps something a bit less aggressive would be better if you ever come across someone thinking of taking a leap. But thanks for commenting...
