Branded

I have been lost in a sea of regret,
delusions of grandeur I've had.
With dark adversity I have been met.
I've felt hopeless, angry and sad.

I am not sure what to do anymore.
I've loved, been jealous and lost.
I've been a damn fool and towards you I've remorse.
And I've done it all at exactly what cost?

The cost to you, to me and dear friends.
My heart stings a hole in my chest.
This pain it sure seems as if it won't end.
The aching has reached to the top of the crest.

Where do I go from here I don't know?
There's a wall everywhere that I've turned.
More times than not I end up alone.
Like a brand to the flesh this seal has been burned.
