Grey Clouds

The grey clouds
My grandmothers face through smoke
They escape your lungs
Leaving behind their mark
I remember being young near you
The saddest songs ever sung
My grandfather being taken
The best man I knew
I wanted to wave goodbye and cry
But neither of those came
and I never understood why he died
I hope he seen me through the end
You lost the man you loved
and I couldn't cry
I could never understand what you felt
And I'll love you for all existence
and the tears and smoke filled the air
Until I heard a bang one day and your heart had skipped a beat
And I found you lying on the floor
But you remained and the smoke never passed through again
And forever I'll breathe for you
For everything you've done for me
My mother of the grandest kind
The strongest person alive
I'll always hold on to thee
