When I first started watching TV there were only 5 channels, and they were all free.

Hell, the only reason I do Fakebook is because I don't have to send them a check every month.

I remember that too hell I'm 66 years old and yes they were all free to watch you bought a TV and took it home 🏡 you just plug it up and watch what was on for free let's not forget the rabbit ear antenna 😉 with aluminum foil on the tips 😁😉🤫

For a while I was kinda into shortwave receivers, for the same wireless reason, but now all the companies want every last human wired up on some sort of subscription plan.

Seems like the only refuge from corporate rentier business scheming is to just buy and read a book.

Ain't that the truth but yet what's better than that take pen 🖋️ to paper 🗞️ and just write ✍️ your own thoughts and insight and self encouragement and your perseverance of how far you have come and gone 💪👍😁👊 🪬 SHAMAN 🪬

..trying to rob us of everything.. peace,, health, etc etc.. our identity even!

The entire time I was reading this I had the image in my mind of one of those old time oily salesmen at faires & the circus. Trying to sell you miracle potions made of castor oil & lies. Certainly describes our digital circus these days. Nothing honest about them. Brilliantly written, my friend! 🙌

When everything is about making money, and wealth is a sign of success, some people will eventually color outside the lines. Carlin was a very bright guy with a lot of knowledge that many can learn from.
Those extra fees....I know about them. They suck and are always around somewhere.

You gotta read the fine print, somewhere tangled in that legal jargon, is a technicality. The proverbial get out of jail free card! And it's always rigged in the wealthy's favor. Carlin, was a talented man, and a keen observer of human behavior, who also happened to be funny. Everything the man did, usually had a nugget of wisdom to be learned. Ugh, the free trials and hidden fees.... and they're not the worst of it! The free stuff is only free because we pay with our time and attention... it's destroying us. We all need to go touch grass!

Wow! I know this feeling, Damian. Just the other week when I was heading into Screwfix, a local DIY store for some grease, the pretty blond lady behind the counter asked me if I had shopped there before. When I said, 'Yes,' she then asked for my name, lol! I said I'd rather not say.  
 
I knew where this was going... & it wasn't for some date night!  
 
It woulda been Email address, so they could spam me with some 'special offers' right?  
 
I feel your frustration...  
 
Sometimes ya just gotta put yer foot down & say (expletive!) 😡
