Rear-View

A stream of emotion seeped out of sorrowful eyes.
Making a path down her face,
she could not help but cry.
Capturing more than her heart,
his eyes held her stare.
They were dark and mysterious,
yet filled with infinite care.
Their embrace holding more than just each other,
neither wanted to let go.
More than just bodies intertwined,
so was their soul.
As they kissed goodbye,
her body felt weak.
Her trembling lips would not let her speak.
He held her so tightly and tried to comfort her pain,
but in all uncertainty,
they weren't sure when they would see each other again.
She got into her car,
and as she drove away,
he motioned that he loved her and wanted her to stay.
She blew him a kiss and then focused on the road.
Missing him already, she wanted to explode.
Feeling loneliness in an instant,
she tried not to look back.
Visions of his head hung low,
and his heart wore a crack.
As the miles separated them,
all she had was the image of his face.
Her hope faded into the rear-view mirror,
and was gone without a trace.
