fever dream

Tell me it's nothing
tell me I'm nothing
you're like slow poison in my veins
filling me up
with a million pretty hallucinations
I swear I can touch
but my hands falls straight through
the milky silhouette of you

Light it up
light it up
so I can step into the burn
you know I'm not alive
unless I'm on fire
you're a summer bonfire
and I'm standing so close
I've become this seasons effergy
a martyr by my own desire

Tell me it's nothing
tell me I'm nothing
tell there are no consequences here
like drowning in a dream
or falling in love with an imaginary friend
tell me nothing is real
because if nothing is real
nothing can hurt
and I can pretend you're an unwritten story
I invented to keep me warm
through a million lonely lives

Light it up
light it up
like the Northern Lights
it's all just chemistry anyway
intellectual magnetism
spiking the endorphins in my brain

Tell me it's nothing
tell me I'm nothing
tell me I can leave any time
I'll still stay a while
wrapped in the fading tendrils
of this dream
that felt so real
until I opened my eyes
