What's Left?
A simple smile taken for granted
Invisible to those watching everyday
A wicked seed that was planted
This ticking time-bomb doesn’t obey
Sinking deeper into this cruel abyss
Failed efforts define the next move
Hurting others while they reminisce
Arguing in the pocket of the groove
Outside the circle hope is lost
Empty gestures fall on deaf ears
How much lifeblood did it cost?
What’s left when the smoke clears?

Ahh.. the last two liners are totally summating & punches on the gut of such manipulated minds..
a simplistic smile soul n truthful intentions are taken for granted .. until the bitter fruits of all such so- trending lies n twisted minds bleed hell..
you nail down the truth in your gritty poetics like no other Poet.. finely written Damian xx

We are sinking. That's why we write to relieve tension and stress of the things that might be bothering us. This is a great piece. True to the shit happening today. Great Damian.

This makes a lot of sense a question for the betterment of life what's left is a reflection of how to navigate through the process of what's next to come 😔

"Smile, it confuses people" > is one of my motto's, since I firmly believe a smile makes the world (at least someone's world) a bit brighter. Yet, many (if not most) take it for granted.
Such hard hitting last lines, my friend, and such a profound piece of ink.

The first stanza in this set a tone...& that last stanza dropped the hammer. I'm guessing there's a collective of us who much enjoy coffee with you & your musings, my friend

I agree that's why we write ✍️ to speak with truth and genuine understanding for sometimes things might not happen how we dreams leaving behind broken pieces of the heart 💔🪬 SHAMAN 🪬📿🪷

Like I said sometimes there are those things we may never truly understand but yet it still happens leaving us to ponder our most deepest thoughts on what's left when it's all said and done 🤔🪬 SHAMAN 🪬

I like what you did in the "direction" in the end of the 2nd and beginning of the 3rd stanzas. I can literally imagine a spiraling focus, heh, if that makes sense. Anyway, as always, your art is definitive and on point with the emotional struggle of battling through the sea of humanity. I suppose I assume this as a first-person point of view, observing a mad world. It could also be personal. Good job, brother. Keep churning these neat and tidy poems out!
