deep waters

my heart reaps sorrow
in trying to understand
I weep with knowledge
and I pull back from the abyss
frightened by what I saw

then drunk off the edge
I go back for just one more sip
because I need you
because you're in the deep end

so I hold my breath until my lungs burn
closing my eyes so afraid of the visions
that's when I feel you take hold of my fragile form
pulling me deeper until I think I will never breathe again
until I think I will never know sanity again
because you get more intimate than any human has

my soul is filled with questions
you answer with touch
you answer with silence
filling my mind with pictures

moments of secrecy shared
whispered in the dark sacredness of sound
we aren't shared with anyone here
we are divinity
and my being let's go and allows the waters to drown me

so I can just be at peace
