Anything for you

One day you said you'd do anything for me
That was something I couldn't believe
Then one day in the past
It all happened so fast
This was all my fault
Not directly but still my fault
One day it all went downhill
I remember it still
It haunts my dreams
And will forever so it seems

We went hiking one day
On a mountain far away
Everything went great
Until I met my fate

I fell off a cliff
He called the sheriff
They said there was no way I'd make it
He said he couldn't take it
He said that he would never forgive
That I needed to live

He did in the end save me
But what makes me crazy
Is that he lost his life instead
That alone can fill ones heart with dread

He told me as he saved my life too
I told you I'd do anything for you
His dying words were a simple plea
Just always remember how you loved me
I did the best I could
What I'd been afraid he one day would
I crawled and held him close and pressed my lips to his
I muttered that I loved him and I'd always be his
He said I love you and I'll always be yours even when I'm dead
It was then he took his last breath as I laid down his head

I sat with his body my head against his chest
Crying my eyes out that he was now at rest
I knew he would always be in my heart
We would never really be apart

I still visit his grave
And try to be brave
I talk to him and I know somewhere he listens too
It still rings in my head that I'd do anything for you
