wild eyed king of the past
ruler of shot glass realms
struttin down neon streets
arm in arm with beautiful strangers
electric
hungry
unstoppable

I devoured darkness
and it devoured me back
thru tangles of limbs
and sheets stained with lipstick
whiskey seepin into my blood
flesh against flesh against flesh

they wanted the fire in me
the untamed beast
that burned thru rooms
and left ashes of promises behind
they wanted to know
what destruction tasted like
so they pressed their lips against mine

til the kingdom crumbled
crushed by fallin stars
where daylight split me open
and stripped away the glory
left me raw and hollow
starin at a stranger’s face
full of anger and disgrace
reflected in bathroom mirrors

now I walk thru quiet halls
where shadows don’t dance
and night remains night
with hands that remember
not to break everythin they touch
and blood that runs steady
in a pill box calm

but beneath my skin
the wild king sleeps
rememberin the taste
of chaos and flame
while I build news walls
round those fires
