Routine

I’m not overly superstitious about things usually. I might have one or two, but that’s a different story, folks. What I am though, is very routine oriented. I don’t freak out if I need to call an audible, but there is a rhythm to everything I do.

Truly though my only superstition is this, I won’t watch my favorite sports teams play in big games, especially championship or tournament games. Because, they lose every time I have watched a game. No joke. They’ve won a few, when I haven’t. But this superstition theory has been battle tested.

“Very superstitious, Writing’s on the wall. Very superstitious, Ladder’s ‘bout to fall.” To quote the great, Stevie Wonder. This happens often, people. That song popped in my head soon as I brought up superstition. I had to finish writing my thought, but that song was screaming the whole time.

Then I go on tangents, it’s who I am. I’m serious, folks. It’s truly amazing I get anything accomplished. Because my mind will jump topic, until I reel it back in.

Now where was I, oh yeah, we were talking about routines. My routine as it comes to DU, for example. I always start with my list beside the message icon.

I click the first comment I see about my newest write. Then go right back to the list, and start reading your replies to my comments on your writes. “Try saying that three times fast.” that’s my brain interrupting again. Damn it.

Don’t know why that’s always the pattern I choose, but it is my routine. Then I check if I have messages, if so I respond, if not I move on. Then I read everyone’s new writes, and leave comments, reading list, etc.

“You can spend your money before you get your pay, With a toss of the dice you can piss it all away.” Singing the song, “Shelter Me” by the band, Cinderella.

Yes, I know they’re considered a Glam band. Or Hair Metal. But there were some good rock bands in that genre, and then there were some who catered to the gimmick more than the music.

Cinderella, was a great band. Especially the “Heartbreak Station” album. Had a heavy blues vibe on that record. Ok, this one is my fault. Told you all, I listen to music while I write, so this happens a lot as well.

There’s chaos all around me, blaring in my ears. “You say that it’s over baby, you say that it’s over now!” Great cover of, Janis Joplin’s, “Move Over.” By Tom Keifer and the boys. He has that raspy soulful voice though, so it was a nice move and tribute. Talented guy, great songwriter.

Back to the story, folks. Then I move on to answering your comments about my newest write. After all of that process I just described, I can now write something. That is my process, unless I’m doing an interview piece with one of you. Then I’d copy your answers and add them to the piece, and go from there.

Truth is folks, I usually come in here empty handed, I haven’t thought about what I’m going to write at all. After my routine, I arrive at the moment of what to write about?

Which in this particular case is what I’m currently writing now. If I had been pissed off at anytime during today, then this would have been a rant.

If it ain’t a Backstage Episode, SpotLight Interview, or full on rant. Then I’m a spontaneous kinda writer, with a routine of course.

Author's Note
Late night musing. This was just a fun piece about one of my many quirks. I embrace it, I have a laugh at my own expense, then I write it. It's a lot less stressful than taking myself too seriously. Appreciate you.

We're finally on our own
This summer I hear the drumming
