what it means to be a man

As I was once told by a man who was not my father...
For the coward was gone
Today you are a man and i...
smiled from ear to ear
Knowing I had made someone proud
That I had learned to talk with crowds as philosopher that keeps his virtue
Who was allowed to walk with kings but held a common touch
And a hand made strong
The world was mine because today I was a man
I had dreamed but it did not take my world
I thought without forgetting action was my aim
I learned women were not toys in a game
They wish to be handled warmly
I do not give to hate
Nor lie
For I am a man!
I do not beg or cheat
for my gain
Even when my feet are upon the fire
I am a man
I can handle the pain
I am what many can not be
I look humble and not talk to wise
I am well acquainted with triumph and disaster
And called them well to be impostors
For I know destiny and faith
Is what will carry me
And hard work my friend
I am a man this day and one day you to will be one my son
For we are needed in this world
To make it warm one again
It has grown cold and violent
Men are needed they are in short supply
I am a man and one day you to will be one my son
