Beneath the Tide
I see you rising in the waves,
A silent hymn, a call to caves.
You pull the anchor from my chest,
A slow descent, a dream of rest.
Each heartbeat drowns beneath your gaze,
A siren song, a violet haze.
And I am weightless, sinking lower,
Your voice, the tide; I can’t grow colder.
Pull me under—
Break my name.
Fill my lungs with
Endless flame.
The surface fades; I won’t survive,
But I’m alive beneath the tide.
Your hands are threads of liquid steel,
They twist, they bind, they make me kneel.
A fleeting gasp, a fleeting prayer,
But drowning feels like breathing air.
You are the ocean, dark and wide,
And I, the wreck, caught in your tide.
And I am fading, piece by piece,
A fragile plea beneath your feast.
Pull me under—
Break my name.
Fill my lungs with
Endless flame.
The surface fades; I won’t survive,
But I’m alive beneath the tide.
Do you remember what I was?
Before I broke beneath your claws?
You take my fears, you take my light,
You promise dawn, but leave me night.
And I still reach, and I still fall,
A willing slave beneath your call.
Pull me under—
Drown me whole.
Claim my body,
Take my soul.
The surface fades; I won’t survive,
But I’m alive beneath the tide.
And when I’m gone, you’ll still remain,
A constant force, an endless chain.
I drift to depths I can’t describe,
Forever yours beneath the tide.
