A Day Without Sun

I despise this wretched place
Where the sky forever heralds light
Sunbeams scorch and burn my face
A relentless, golden blight

I yearn for cold shade
The solace of shadowed rule
Umbral waters I'd wade
Immersed in its Cimmerian pool

I pray for the sun’s dying breath
For Nox to reign and smother more
Yet I know I plead in vain with death
This battle is lost, this endless war

From this cursed, red-dusted soil
I call to the night for its start
To end this gleaming, sky-lit boil
Return my race's starborne heart

Ultraviolet, my jailer eternal
A torment I forever scorn
Its burning touch, cruel and infernal
Daywalkers should never be born
