Bring you back home

Dreamed 'bout you last night
Beauty bowed at your feet
Angels looked at you with envy
God's masterpiece personified

We had time on our side
Living free without a care
No future to think and plan for
No burdens to bare

I held you in the cool autumn nights
Sitting in the back of my truck
Wondering what I did
To deserve such luck

We danced through golden fields
Barefoot we waded in the creek
Both waiting for the other
To say how we truly felt

But time betrayed us
Like a knife in the back
I was left here crying
While my beautiful world faded to black

I will never forget you
Our love was wrecklessly abandoned
Through no fault of our own
Now all I have is memories and dreams
To bring you back home
