Temperance (Twin Sword of Excalibur)

   Everyone knows the story of Excalibur, King Arthur's sword, yet they have forgotten to mention that the creation of Excalibur was not a singular event. A second sword was created—its twin sword, Temperance.  
 
Just as Excalibur was spelled to stay in the stone, it could not be grasped unless the chosen one, the descendant of royal blood, came and retrieved it.  
 
Temperance was spelled and floated high above in the sky.  
 
It was spelled by the Lady of the Lake, the same lady who put a spell on Excalibur. No one knew why she had done this. One day, the sword was just there above for all to see.  
 
 The world in which temperance resides is a world that cultivated and adored magic. It is in a different plane of existence, yet it is similar. When the sword appeared, the King and Queen were told of it. A vision came to the old palace magician that the sword would only be seized by the true heir with magical blood. The old magician died before discovering who was ordained to retrieve the sword.  
 
 The King and Queen decreed that anyone who had a magician in their family or heard of anyone practicing magic must be brought to the palace to retrieve the sword.  
 
 Word spread quickly about the floating sword in the land of the never-ending chasm. The King and Queen immediately sent the new royal magician to fetch it. The magician was new and not fully trained. He could not retrieve the sword from the sky and was beheaded.  
 
 For over a decade, magician after magicians went after the mysterious floating sword and lost their heads over it. Until…
