Extra Holidays
Pretty please teens
texting tight pants illiterate
jerking SOS twitter dregs
aimlessly into space--
they crowd me
like dumpster fleas
whining to come home
I play smart phone dumb
praying they'll find
a week in retail
a hot meal
or a charge from their Dad
any direction but my own
They have grown weary
jeering at job ghosts
skinny purses already fucked
by monster fees raping luck
as accidents of birth horizons
ming unwashed jihads
to wild their drunken Saturday nights
What makes them think
they can cling to a rock
this old & sunk
I'd rather settle alone in the dark
next to OAP pornsters
sucker punching the air
with the toothless glee of dementia
& the glitter of a jackpot
no-one ever wins
Bleeding their anarchy
at Mom's expense
is that what they want?
Let them stew through the jubilee
cheap booze & a singsong
never saved the Titanic
while dolly's face
was melting in the flames
But remember to wake me
when they've learned
correctly
the secrets to sharpening
a knife
