First Real Heartbreak

There was a time I'd do anything for you; you had me hooked like a fish. I would’ve never left you and always stayed true. There’s no one I would’ve swam in the abyss with. But damn, you fucked up. I was obsessed when I first met you! Now that I think of it, it was the first time I ever fell in love at first sight. When you cussed me out and dismissed me as if I was a peasant from the 1800s, it didn’t just break my heart—you took a little of my soul that day. Do you remember those lottery numbers on that ticket when I won—what was it—25 or 35 dollars?

Author's Note
Have you ever met a person who knocks the wind out of you?
You’re just like, wow, I want to love that person,
Only to have them crush your heart.

This is a poem about that pain—
Something short and brief.
