when I was a child, grown ups
were men in overcoats and trilbys,
and women wore plastic macs,
and our older brothers and sisters
were all hippies,
but I dare say there’s no going back

I think the 60's let many sociocultural "cats out of the bag", figuratively speaking. The road to hell is paved with good intentions, I suppose. Regardless, you've a like from me and well wishes to continue on writing in your distinctive voice.
