Of Leaves and Other Debris
Along the path of amber hue
Where leaves like whispers fall
The trees stand bare against the blue
So stark, so still, so tall
The air hangs thick with earthy scents
As shadows start to creep
The brittle ground, where branches bent
Lies bound in autumn’s sleep
The rustling leaves, a mournful sound
Lie scattered, torn, and shed
Their colors bright, now fallen down
A carpet for the dead
In quiet steps, I tread alone
Beneath the fading light
Where every tree and branch and stone
Seems haunted by the night
This winding path will see me through
Till dusk consumes the air
For though the woods grow dark in hue
They lead me... somewhere rare
Where leaves like whispers fall
The trees stand bare against the blue
So stark, so still, so tall
The air hangs thick with earthy scents
As shadows start to creep
The brittle ground, where branches bent
Lies bound in autumn’s sleep
The rustling leaves, a mournful sound
Lie scattered, torn, and shed
Their colors bright, now fallen down
A carpet for the dead
In quiet steps, I tread alone
Beneath the fading light
Where every tree and branch and stone
Seems haunted by the night
This winding path will see me through
Till dusk consumes the air
For though the woods grow dark in hue
They lead me... somewhere rare
