Wishful Thinking
Wishful thinking lead me down this road
I needed to find myself along the way
So many guilty seeds have been sowed
Darkening this field where demons play
Walking in shadows searching for light
So many summers chasing this illusion
Witnessed dreams being killed for spite
Suffering under a foregone conclusion
Remembering the fallen created a path
Showing me how to break this slumber
Imagine Bukowski with a touch of Plath
Forgot the name sure I lost the number
It’s for the love of the write I’m still here
Always to the point with inspiration near
I promise to always confront every fear
My muse wants everything crystal clear
I needed to find myself along the way
So many guilty seeds have been sowed
Darkening this field where demons play
Walking in shadows searching for light
So many summers chasing this illusion
Witnessed dreams being killed for spite
Suffering under a foregone conclusion
Remembering the fallen created a path
Showing me how to break this slumber
Imagine Bukowski with a touch of Plath
Forgot the name sure I lost the number
It’s for the love of the write I’m still here
Always to the point with inspiration near
I promise to always confront every fear
My muse wants everything crystal clear
Author's Note
Late night musing. Just letting it flow tonight. A poetic cornucopia of fun. Being serious without taking myself too seriously, folks. Appreciate you.

Sounds so absurd, to me
We can't afford
To say these words, lightly
Or else our world
Will truly, rest in peace"

I've never read any of the classic literature.
Writing for the sheer love of it.
To get it out. Figuring our words out and how
to put it on paper - killing it at the same time.
For me there is a certain power about it.
To know you can influence yourself when you are
not surrounded by college educated writers.
And I hope that doesn't come off snobbish.
I can appreciate great writing - but to sit down and
try it because of what someone else wrote - nope.
We sit down because we have something to say
and want to express it in our own words:)
Loved that last stanza amigo

Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Adel. Honored to make your RL. I'm not a college educated writer anyway, so I feel you. I've read some classic work, but not as much as some might think. I learned to write studying lyricist's. Appreciate you.

If I had words for the thoughts stirred by this...I'll just tuck it in my list & quietly sit down
