Mysteries of The Ascension

High in the heavens, past earth's dim sight
Where clouds and stars embrace the light
The Lord arose, in holy guise
Beyond the reach of mortal eyes

What mystery binds His upward way
As angels sing and watch and pray?  
What secrets lie in heaven’s span
Unknown to dust-bound heart of man?  

The stones bear witness, cold and clear
To steps that vanish from us here
While faith and wonder rise above
To realms unseen, in perfect love

Did angels lift His form on high
Or light itself dissolve the sky?  
Did winds from God’s own breath release
A path to realms of endless peace?  

O humbled heart, content to stay
Yet dreameth still of heaven’s way
To rise with Him, where souls are free
O mystery of eternity!
