Still Carries A Sting

Smug suggestion fueled a raging fire
In case there was a shadow of doubt
Spirts make it harder to walk this wire
A subtle whisper swelling into a shout

Never was I treated like an equal partner
Killing myself slowly to create an illusion
You’re always choosing to play the martyr
Clinging onto this weary web of confusion

Random outbursts crowd a desolate room
Distorted rhetoric lingers inside bitter walls
Every conversation was clouded with doom
Counterproductive until all momentum stalls

Heard you finally decided to perform again
I’m forever living in certain words you sing
Deep down a part of me can’t help but grin
Wondering if saying them still carries a sting

Author's Note
Late night musing. Somethings just stick with you. Even when you think you've made peace with a situation sometimes there is still some leftover venom deep down. It's best to get it out I say's. My old songwriting buddy seems to have started performing music again. I wrote some of the lyrics on a few of those songs. So naturally I write about him having to sing those words. Appreciate you.
