Image for the poem When You Lay Me Down

When You Lay Me Down

Sound ceases
Heart beats carry on silently
Savagely
Please
Tear me apart gently
Pour your soul into me
Sync your darkness with what’s left of my fragility
Until there’s nothing left of me
Sheets and the ribbons of my dreams twisting
Let love be the sin I repent on my knees
Needing the danger we feed
Flames higher than I can see
Searing the ceiling
Until fireflies
Burn in my eyes
Stripped of all my schemes and lies
You make me wanna give up the fight
It can’t be a crime
The way I want to make your soul mine
