Sunday Bath
Going for my Sunday bath
Imagine the scummy aftermath
Scrub myself from head to toe
Rid that stench they call B.O
My body looks amazingly clean
Six foot tall, lean and mean
A sparkling glitter, shiny sheen
The cleanest I think, I've ever seen
Mummy told me, the important parts
Behind the ears, is a good start
Scrub that ring around your neck
Murky waters, what the feck
Climbing out my Sunday bath
Leaving a scummy aftermath
All done for another week
Til' then, I'll have to reek
Imagine the scummy aftermath
Scrub myself from head to toe
Rid that stench they call B.O
My body looks amazingly clean
Six foot tall, lean and mean
A sparkling glitter, shiny sheen
The cleanest I think, I've ever seen
Mummy told me, the important parts
Behind the ears, is a good start
Scrub that ring around your neck
Murky waters, what the feck
Climbing out my Sunday bath
Leaving a scummy aftermath
All done for another week
Til' then, I'll have to reek
Author's Note
My Dad used to tell me back in the day, him and his Brothers and a lot of families back then used to get a bath once a week on a Sunday before going back to school the next day lol, they'd get a face wash every day.
Him being the youngest of four, they had to share too, the same water, so the eldest got first dibs, then the next and so on, so he was left with his three previous Brothers bath water 😂

I've heard that too, a bath once a week. It's something we can't imagine these days.

Every phase of life and civilization has had their "normal" practices. Wonder what we're doing today that will seem strange or different years from now? Thanks for the reminder. Hugs and love, Oral

You are quite right Oral, I watching this stand-up comedian who was saying in years to come we'll be telling our kids the hard times we used to face by switching the washing machine on or microwave, etc, you don't how lucky you are now lol

My family comes from the country. In the islands. So I know about this. Also out houses.

Brilliantly written, Pete. I've heard stories like that as well. Nicely done. Appreciate you.

Ah dang...this brought me back to the farm as a kid. There were 6 of us, cousins & sibs. Every Friday night the girls got thrown into the tub, 2 at a time & the 2 boys went in together last. Same bath water. Every morning we were expected to "wash up"...faces & visible bits. If we turned up at table with even a speck of dirt...oooh boy. Great memories you stirred here
