Judgement Day
There’s a strange reflection in the mirror
Something’s different about the atmosphere
An awkward moment becomes much clearer
When guilt is tangled with alcohol and fear
Constantly obsessing over every last detail
Nightmares lurking inside a common thread
This icy eeriness rings within a guitar scale
Amidst the silence live the words never said
Confessions are admissions of mistakes made
Forgiveness is the long and winding highway
Though I’m praying for the light to never fade
Broken promises will cloud my Judgement Day
Something’s different about the atmosphere
An awkward moment becomes much clearer
When guilt is tangled with alcohol and fear
Constantly obsessing over every last detail
Nightmares lurking inside a common thread
This icy eeriness rings within a guitar scale
Amidst the silence live the words never said
Confessions are admissions of mistakes made
Forgiveness is the long and winding highway
Though I’m praying for the light to never fade
Broken promises will cloud my Judgement Day

Guilt is a horrible feeling to carry with you. We all make mistakes, I think the key to being free is forgiveness. Of others and yourself. Great piece, Damian, food for thought.

Superbly crafted Damian but who hasn't made mistakes in there lives, you don't need me to tell you, how we deal with them and hopefully come out the other side stronger and wider ❤️

There are no mistakes in life, only experiences. How can we possibly know what it is we truly want, or who it is we truly want to be, without negativity providing the contrast of feelings that we don't want to repeat?

I swear I live my life in confession mode, always owning my errors & trying to understand & right what I can. The feel of these musings is akin to my journey within. We all face a day of reckoning. Question is...can we make peace with ours? Beautiful, DL
