Infinitesimal
I am disheartened
Right now I feel like dying
But I know I'll never have my wish
Into my loneliness I'll slip
Take my spirit
But you'll never have me
Let me die
Before I can be happy
Prolong my discontent
I'll die
Before I see the ending
I let you in
Just so you could find your way out
Take the pain away
But leave the dagger hanging
Smite me with your crooked smile
Shun me with your youthful eyes
Make me feel worthless
Deprive me of your coveted attention
Unearth my deepest desires
Only to hang them out to dry
Make me feel unwanted
Dispossess my will
Give me a void I can never fill
Make me feel invisible
I am undone
Not another breath will suffice
Drag me out of the abyss
Only to leave me high and dry
Plunder all of my bliss
Make me feel disoriented
Make me your bete noire

I read this earlier in the day, and I got stuck on the glorious bete noir phrase (there's a little hoo-digger thingy over the e)
Make me your dark monster as a closing. Good hell, yes!
What was the poem about?
Right.
Some of the language was just like balm.
Smite me with your crooked smile... loved it.
Make me feel worthless...
Deprive me...
Give to me and take away. The push-me-pull-me is really powerful.
And then, the quiet begging, the whisper, the utter surrender...
make me your dark monster.
I have to ask if you actively make the first letter of each line capitalized, or if it's just the way the word doc does it? I think it might feel even more hollow and codependent if you only used capital letters at the beginning of a thought.
Or, go full-balls ee cummings and don't use 'em, cap letters, at all.
