My Aria
I’m uncertain if my bleeding is agonizing enough
For me to weep,
Or if I’m just caught in an extravagant opera
Performing an aria,
Like a soprano lamenting her melodic pain
In search of aid.
Cluelessly applauding brava for her bel canto
During her cadenza,
As she sweeps the floor with her paltry blood and tears,
When others’ sorrows
Weigh heavier than her ceasing high note,
To even dare to cry.
For me to weep,
Or if I’m just caught in an extravagant opera
Performing an aria,
Like a soprano lamenting her melodic pain
In search of aid.
Cluelessly applauding brava for her bel canto
During her cadenza,
As she sweeps the floor with her paltry blood and tears,
When others’ sorrows
Weigh heavier than her ceasing high note,
To even dare to cry.
