Down The Avenue

Systematic hurt taunts the soul
Leaves a good man feeling blue
Unable to feel completely whole
Without hope nothing seems true

Soft ballads whisper through walls
Insanity lurks behind seductive eyes
Distorted people walk narrow halls
Not knowing what waits in disguise

Painting lies with a suggestive brush
It’s how some folks make their living
Thinking about some long lost crush
While spreading a seed of misgiving

It all relates to your point of view
What awaits you down the avenue

Author's Note
Late night musing. Just some thoughts flowing through my imperfect mind. Add that I'm currently listing to, Alice Cooper Band, the vintage stuff from around 1969 to 1973. By 74 or 75, Alice, became a solo artist, you know? And this is what came to mind. Appreciate you.

"Touched by the toil and plunged into his arm
Cursed through the night through eyes of alarm
A melody black flowed out of my breath
Searching for death, but bodies need rest"

- Alice Cooper
