Down The Avenue
Systematic hurt taunts the soul
Leaves a good man feeling blue
Unable to feel completely whole
Without hope nothing seems true
Soft ballads whisper through walls
Insanity lurks behind seductive eyes
Distorted people walk narrow halls
Not knowing what waits in disguise
Painting lies with a suggestive brush
It’s how some folks make their living
Thinking about some long lost crush
While spreading a seed of misgiving
It all relates to your point of view
What awaits you down the avenue
Leaves a good man feeling blue
Unable to feel completely whole
Without hope nothing seems true
Soft ballads whisper through walls
Insanity lurks behind seductive eyes
Distorted people walk narrow halls
Not knowing what waits in disguise
Painting lies with a suggestive brush
It’s how some folks make their living
Thinking about some long lost crush
While spreading a seed of misgiving
It all relates to your point of view
What awaits you down the avenue
Author's Note
Late night musing. Just some thoughts flowing through my imperfect mind. Add that I'm currently listing to, Alice Cooper Band, the vintage stuff from around 1969 to 1973. By 74 or 75, Alice, became a solo artist, you know? And this is what came to mind. Appreciate you.

"Touched by the toil and plunged into his arm
Cursed through the night through eyes of alarm
A melody black flowed out of my breath
Searching for death, but bodies need rest"

Fanfuckingtastic write my friend! Alice Cooper is a weird cat. I mean his music was never to satisfying for me. I can probably fill a 79 minute CD-R with all of my favorite tracks from him. The classic period to me is 69-73. Though Muscle of Love I absolutely HATE! His solo stuff is decent during the 70's. Some cool songs. 1980-1983 his music is the pits. Then he went LA Glam by 1986 with Constrictor. From there on he became well received & respected by a new generation of fans. I keep going. Sorry about that.
This piece deserves an RL!

That's cool, Keith. I love all the era's, but newer albums like, "Dragontown", and "Brutal Planet" are ranked pretty high on my list. Constrictor, was solid. Trash, was the first album I owned. Then of course, Hey, Stoopid. Been a fan every since. I did a pretty mean version of, "Eighteen" at one time. Now I'm the one carrying on. lol. Honored to make your RL. Appreciate you.

Hey Damien
I enjoyed the picture and how it relates to the poem. How all the turns in life
can be abrupt and winding which can influence how we relate to people and become jaded.
But I'm an optimist. I also noticed the streetlamps which at least gives some light.
Great write!!

Thanks so much for reading and your continued support, Adelphina. Means a lot to me. I try to be optimistic, but it's not easy since I'm a naturally pessimistic. Appreciate you.
