Image for the poem Reflection

Reflection

Reflections swirl
Pictures of childishness
Then they cease
Just to twist yet again
Leaving something

Not from this life
Another time
From another history
If one should exist
If only we could dream ourselves there again

In a mind spiralling
Flames skip, then dance
I picture you
Passion burns like a fire
But like ash…
You remain, only now as a mystery
Was there ever a you and me?

If make-belief could be real
Take your arms and cover me
That I may remember yesterday
Of how our dreams lit our lives….
When
A boy holds a girl until the woman makes the man

Oh, that I might not be…
A man of two worlds
Fragmented
Scattered so uselessly
Hidden in the greyness of the here and now

Lost in reflection

Like a million runaways looking for a home

At this crossroads….

….the remaining days are disguised as years
