Perpetual Motion
Everyday people are tagged like cattle
Power junkies pimping some new war
Calloused souls are preparing for battle
Protecting the rich by sending the poor
Certain death chases life in perpetual motion
Never needing to kill unless it gets the notion

Author's Note
Late night musing. I feel like life sometimes on a very primitive level is just trying to avoid not dying. That human instinct that hides beneath the surface is always in perpetual motion. I'm kinda iffy on the matter if the stanza and couplet even go together. I'll let you be the judge. Appreciate you.

I understand to a new poet or person skimming the surface on life and deeper thinking the need to explain but honestly the last couplet would be and is very powerful and stands out...I agree we are all powerful life forces put in vulnerable bodies it is humbling sometimes I'll just walk the orchard on a windy day sometimes run it thinking a large branch could drop on me there are so many variables and I think somehow we are interactive with the earth like if I am storming around the yard in a bad mood I'll trip over a root or someone equally cranky will be sent my way when it's more than one being I know I am being interacted with on a deeper or on another level... well anyway I use technology but I use it... it has become very intrusive... no more I suppose then the Grigori who I wonder did they operate like AI not that they don't have corporeal form and have opinions but that any time they spot something I wonder if God is scanning their tthoughts perhaps and if there is a problem he engages and they automatically respond say as to apposed to just thinking it out on their own and following a chain of command...sorry I went on but your mindset is a bit where mine goes sometimes too honestly the weather the stars people and tech have me concerned and being a lot more humble... thank you for this write...

Thanks for reading and your commentary, Crimsin. Honored to make your RL. It's easy to overthink every situation, which I do daily. Everyday the world grows stranger, almost like I never knew it. Memories are full of nostalgia, but I was looking thru different eyes then. Appreciate you.

This one asked for a few reads to let it fully sink in. There's so much truth in it, we are indeed tagged like cattle. Love the Bob Dylan quote and to me the stanza and couplet go perfect together.
Brilliant piece, Damian.

I think our government and others are much more pervasive than we're aware of. Good one, Damian.

Yup. And it enables the rich to dodge the draft. . .
I volunteered for the Army on my birthday
They draft white trash first anyway
I done two tour's of duty in Vietnam
I came home with a brand-new plan. . .
