Inner Child
Life goes by yet part of me stays the same
I guard close to me the innocence that still remains
I often question what’s this worth, when I’ve experienced so much hurt
There’s a beauty to the soul when it overcomes the pain.
I’ve grown into my whole self under the guidance of my mother
There’s no confusion with me; I always show my true colours
It’s all fine and dandy, but I want to be really happy
Not just plaster a smile for the sake of pleasing others.
Take the pieces of your heart
Mix and match ‘till you find your counterpart
This wholesome essence deep within
Has been there for you through thick and thin.
You’re a light in the dark
Embrace every part of who you are
It’s okay to loosen up and be wild
I love you dearly my inner child.

I love you dearly my inner child.
