The Flu

An unwanted invasion of my person
has me cursing and using all sorts of profanity
in this crazy insanity of my brain
which is causing me to go insane
for every muscle is screaming to repent
of the day bent with unwanted chaos

Tumbling to and fro
as the pain ebbs and flows
every nuance and every crack
in every seam up my back

Medication is but a minor respite.
For this pain is making me desperate
Every year it infiltrates my soul
Taking a grip won't let go

They say one injection, and you will be free
One injection into the heart of me
Should I take what is my money,
to insert this man-made honey.
To conquer an enemy
that changes its identity every year.
Why did I have to catch the flu this year.
