Nice Guy Chronicles VI
So here I was like a dog with its tail between its legs
I got stood up and there was no changing the scenario
I was walking back home,
I felt numb to say the least
My heart felt heavier with each step
Little did I know who I was about to run into
A boy and a girl were walking towards my direction. They didn't seem to be talking, you'd swear they were two strangers who just so happen to be matching each others pace.
The girl looked familiar and once we noticed each other her face just lit up
There she was
I hadn't seen her in years
There she was in the flesh
and she seemed happy to see me
Here's a little trivia:
As far as I remember
this was the first girl I ever had crush on
That's how long I've known her
Yet we weren't really that close
We were cool but whenever we'd talk
The environment just seemed a little awkward
As if it was some kind of silver lining
Here she was in front of me
on the very day someone else didn't show up
We spoke a little...
she introduced the guy she was walking with.
He mostly just stood there silently.
For those few moments it was as if
it was just her and I.
Nobody else existed.
That's when I noticed
she had something on her face.
I told her and tried to remove it,
my hand got close to her face but
when I was about to touch her
she moved away.
Giving a look to the other guy.
'oh no I'll remove it myself'
It was no problem, in fact I'm really not touchy.
I was surprised at myself because I'd normally just point things out for the other person to 'fix' themselves.
We spoke a little more then went our seperate ways.
I don't know why we didn't follow each other on social media.
Yet it was now the catalyst for me to get her number.
Following this we started talking regularly
I didn't see her since that day
But unlike the years prior
This time we kept in touch
Don't get me wrong, being stood up did hurt but imagine if things worked out that day.
On my way back, I ran into this girl.
It's as if one made room for the other.
It took a few months but eventually I knew that I had to ask her out.
However that story my good friends
Is a story for another day
