a humble plea will you see me
or look right through
sometimes I feel faint
like I'm slipping away with time
 
I'm uncertain you ever did
my mind makes things up

I hold all the shadows you send my way
your heartache over someone else

and the world stops revolving

defeatism is realistic

not to encourage you to be dark
I'm chaste of vision

I release the darkness
you love this bleak side of me
are you angry about how dishonest I've been
restraining this side of me
keeping it pent up so it wouldn't touch you
 
letting you down I let my demons go
they have their own desires
and they are honor-bound to live by their own code
 
it was never my right to bind them
however, I will not let them rule me
they have respect for me
