Heartbeat

I wait and count heartbeats
With every beat, you move closer
I plead for it to speed up
It refuses me like a stubborn child
The anticipation of feeling you against me
It causes my mind to run through possibilities
You lean in with parted lips
The sweet, sultry breath I inhale as you exhale
One more beat, and you're mine.
My heart stops, as well as space and time
The moment we touch timid lips
I taste your thoughts and chase it
I delved in to seek, in search
Of my heart, not realizing
Not able to comprehend
For my heart to beat
You must say the word
Mine.
