Ocean Waters
Morning chill brings about the
trout on the ocean waters.
Lift the anchor from the sea,
head out to find fish to eat.
Foggy mist covers the sky,
lending to the eerie feeling that
October can give.
Windy currents drift back and
forth rocking the craft as it
proceeds further out.
Fishing lines go deep into the
blue waters with hopes of hooking
a tasty thing.
Worms on the lines provide
just enough temptation to lure
that thing I'll be cooking.
Raking in fish left and right,
feeling good for a while.
Clouds roll in as black
fills the sky.
Thunderous rain,
followed by flashes of lightning
intensifies everything.
Steering the craft heading towards shore,
becomes an obstacle as waves start to climb.
Pushing the craft to the full,
radio ahead just in case.
Holding on for dear life,
I secure the day's gains while protecting my life.
Locking myself in the cockpit,
strap in and try to ride out this dangerous storm.
Craft continues to rise up the wave,
applying pressure, enough to survive.
Sliding down the other end of the wave,
I pull in, drop anchor and gather the gains.
Carrying the gains along the dock,
waves crash down destroying my craft.
After reaching the house,
I settle in from the days adventure.
Clean and filet my catch I do,
as I ride out the storm,
prepare for the next day.
Then it's fix the craft,
hit the water and challenge the ocean again.
