can relate so much...my father wants me to be just like my brother...really good job

I know exactly how you feel girl. My mom's the exact same way. I'm an only child, so I get compared to my mom's friend's kids who I barely know and don't give a damn about, she thinks I'm not going to finish school just because I have a boyfriend, and no matter what I do it's not enough. I totally know how you feel, but once you turn eighteen she can't do shit so just be patient, bide your time, and once you become of age you're home free.  

You know, I wrote this, just an hour before I posted it. My parents were sitting there talking about my future, like it was their own. My mom was saying how she wants to see me marry this one boy who goes to their church, first of all, I'm not of christian faith, and second of all I Have very strong feelings for someone else. But I can't tell my parents shit, because They don't agree with ANYTHING I stand for. Last time I told them I don't believe in god, they sent me to a psychiatrist. When I posted this, I thought someone would say I was whining too much, and that my parents only want whats best for me. Yeah, I hear that ALOT! My mom used to Abuse me. I was in foster care for two years because of it, but she lied and they believed her, because I have a bad past. They were going to send me to a facility if I didn't go back to her. So, I went back to her. She hasn't hit me in the past year that I've been back, but she's still very cruel to me. And I know if she knew about my poetry and DU, she'd send me off again. Thank you guy's for Understanding, and being able to relate. :) That really means alot to me.

damn... and i thought i had a fucked up past

This made me think of the Elton John/Bernie Taupin song "Skyline Pigeon", one of my favorite songs.
I had three older brothers and was always being compared to them. I can't even remember how many times I heard the exact same thing, "why can't you be more like your brothers? I wrote a couple of poems relating to that back then, "The Family Way" and "Quarter-Life Crisis". jj

Families always expect so much from us yet they insist "Find your path, be yourself, live your dream" and when you do they push you down down down down until you're nothing but a piece of gum stuck at their shoes.
