A Haunting In The Sky
A holy spirit high in the sky.
Cloaked in white and burning strong.
The stars vanish beneath its light.
The moon, transparently, lingers on....
The sunflowers sway to see it's face.
Unaware are the simpletons.
The reign that drenches us is bright.
The chariot of Apollyon.
It's umbrella is a godly might.
As it densely rages on.
Helios sits alone at the top.
The nobles are it's throne.
He casts out, conquering,
Hypnotic, negative spikes.
That weak minds must condone.
Zombies are his children.
His mouth is their home.
Everyday they pray to be forgiven.
For things they've never done.
They faithfully await.
For Cupid's trumpet moan.
The blackest hole at the top.
A cap that hasnt blown.
A lonely god. The facade.
A city of silicone.
That devours all it claims to love.
The only story ever known.
The holy spirit passing by.
So gloriously its shone.
Creeping around day and night
Imprisoned and disowned.
Cloaked in white and burning strong.
The stars vanish beneath its light.
The moon, transparently, lingers on....
The sunflowers sway to see it's face.
Unaware are the simpletons.

Nice! Perhaps not everyone will get the total gist of it, but they can follow pretty well methinks. And the meter and rhyme scheme makes it entertaining as well as educational, I dare say.
I've been known to research something, even a word, based on something I've read. It's how we share our smarts!
This is a prime example of that. Awesome write.

Thanks for stopping by! I use a lot of word play in my poetry so if people don't do research on word origins it usually is missed. This one is pretty straight forward but it incorporates multiple religious ideas which a lot of people don't tend to be interested in. Or they choose to only believe In one religion and never look at any of the others. Thanks for your feedback!

I've been around several countries, and took in a few religions and beliefs etc. Plus I've read a great deal. There is no right or wrong religion. Except for the extreme punishment type. Most religions are derivatives of more ancient ones, actually. Lots of crossover heroes. Lol. And yes, mythology tends to get blended in as well.
I enjoy learning, still. And I enjoy being taken back to things I've forgotten even.
So your write is great for that. I appreciate your effort and the result.

I wish I could travel! I'd try to learn as much as I could. But I rely on YouTube or Google or talking to random people for now. Maybe one day. I think punishment is very interesting. Most people have an adrenaline rush which some say give them out of body experiences. Perhaps punishment was originally meant to force a spiritual awakening at some point. But idk. Always a mystery in this world.
