Holy Water
Do all poets
love rainy days?
Do they stand at windows
as though in pews,
looking out
at glossy streets
and dripping leaves
under gray-filtered
skies
to worship
what rain
preaches?

Amazing shit Tim, absolutely brilliant metaphoric extension. Combining the rain and a church and examining them through a poetic scoped kicked mega-ass.

I’m English, so rain is in my blood.
I was really drawn to that last line about listening to what rain preaches. And the more I think about what rain has to say. I think what she speaks of most of all is this message of letting go. Of release. And it will allow you to float or drown you. And that’s some powerful shit.
A concise thought, this one. Thank you for sharing.

Oh, I LOVE rainy days. While most complain about the rain.
There's something so cleansing, standing in the rain.
Can't love this little write enough 🙏🏻

Love this poem--and the wonderful photograph that accompanies the evocative word pictures you so effectively paint. Rain as natural Holy Water that blesses, renews, and cleanses body and soul--lovely. Everyone loves the sun. But a poet's eye transforms that which most curse into a natural blessing. Really nicely done!

The picture is so vibrant. In some way it makes me think of after
the rain is over and just letting everything soak in for a moment.
No need to grab a towel and dry off - just absorb it:)
Rain does preach amigo!

I know I do. An awesome storm is so invigorating to me. That power is the best fireworks ever.
This is a wonderful write. It resonates with probably most of us. I love it .
