Suck it up, Buttercup
I'm the universe on extinction watch
as Phoebus dapples through the wind blown leaf
to dance a jig around the fence post notch
under the scarlet clouds of sunset grief
and faint rose eddies of sky scatter June,
clearing the void...for more twilight blue.
Then night, like a mortician, comes too soon
for condensation of the mortal dew
as Polaris guides to the same old place
and the candle flame flickers to an end
like the final star in expanding space
or a telomere in its fated trend...
unraveling like the lessons life taught
when the sapient psyche comes to naught.
