Arching Bonds

Pondering such an intrinsic theme
Trying to figure out what it all means
Looking beyond to those that we find
These times, those whose meeting we spur

Expecting a person that will care and love
Thinking of a bond of special trust
Hoping for one that will be happy for you
Live, learn, and play along in true meaning

But what we get instead can be corrosive
People driven by jealousy, greed, and emotion
Never stopping to care about any other anyway
Contempt with living in a bubble of falsehood

Yet this requires a better set of eyes
Emotions hold plenty behind a plastic guise
Maybe they want to care, they want to love
Perhaps their lives cannot afford them the key

Undoubtedly, my happiness will not fade
In the hope that it will clear your gaze
To all we face this must be an approach
For not all are easily understood

The line between fairness and understanding
Knowledge of what is really there hiding
To not allow excuses but still be lenient
There to be ever patient even in pain

In all, to create the bond that I know can be achieved
To continue to be the friend you might never be

Because…I actually do care about humanity
