Dick Ramdass went completely mad in 1901, which made him wickedly violent. For his own protection, but probably more for her own, his wife Anita chained him to a pipe in the basement of their home in New Jersey. Dick eventually quieted down. He became convinced that his wife was trying to poison him, so he stopped eating. Ramdass starved to death.
