That Locket
There’s this locket
A gift from my grandfather
A golden teddy bear on
A thin chain
On the thin line between
Elegant and kitschy
The bears no bigger than my thumb
He’s itsy bitsy
Every time I go to put it on
I stop
It came from a pawn shop and
I always feel like
I’m wearing someone else’s
Dreams and unmet expectations
So it made since my grandpa gave it to me
I wore it for a day and a half, almost
But finally I had to snap the chain
It just wouldn’t let me be
A gift from my grandfather
A golden teddy bear on
A thin chain
On the thin line between
Elegant and kitschy
The bears no bigger than my thumb
He’s itsy bitsy
Every time I go to put it on
I stop
It came from a pawn shop and
I always feel like
I’m wearing someone else’s
Dreams and unmet expectations
So it made since my grandpa gave it to me
I wore it for a day and a half, almost
But finally I had to snap the chain
It just wouldn’t let me be
