Exclusion or Inclusion

Is there a reason for a broken mind,
 in Psyche’s nature, nurture, maybe both,
 has thought transgressed some fundamental oath,
would comprehending cause help solve the bind?
Some think the medication is unkind,
 can make cognition idiotic, sloth,
 but absence makes for aberrations growth;
an equilibrium so hard to find.
  To ask equality, to ask too much?
   How could the norm equate that with poor thought?
  To ask forgiveness, or for pity’s touch,
   assumes equality with common sort.
    Such damaged shards of this humanity
    are nonetheless parts of periphery.
