thoughts on a passing train
Mournfully sighing nighttime train
Chugging through the country rain
Transport my affections far away
Flutter them up as your boxcars sway
So the hidden stars might sing their tune
Sharing them with the darkened moon
That she would hum them to the Sun
Whose beams might remind my distant One
That with his heart my dreams will rest
That in my heart his memory is blessed
May trains or rains or lights in the sky
Remind you that this love doesn’t die
Chugging through the country rain
Transport my affections far away
Flutter them up as your boxcars sway
So the hidden stars might sing their tune
Sharing them with the darkened moon
That she would hum them to the Sun
Whose beams might remind my distant One
That with his heart my dreams will rest
That in my heart his memory is blessed
May trains or rains or lights in the sky
Remind you that this love doesn’t die
